Throughout my life I have always been a firm believer in “Karma” and what a little beast she can be and the whole “what goes around comes around” business…for the most part. With that being said, I also do believe that we can create drama and negative karma in our own lives…and others lives by our actions, so I would like to alleviate that by proposing the idea of “Good Deed Saturday.” Good deeds don’t have to be grandiose to matter, it can be so small as saving a bee from a snow storm or telling someone that you love them and that they are important for no particular reason. Remember, it’s not the act, it’s how the act makes you feel that’s important.
If you have read my memoir “HerStory ~ Victim to Victorious” you will know that I did not write the book for financial gain, I did it to expose a pain in me that was pushed so deep and had been hidden for so long that it was manifesting itself in my physical being, besides that, the truth needed to be told. I received my very first royalty cheque the other day, which was for less than $100.00 but more than I ever expected and more than I had the day before, so I was thrilled. As I stood there and looked at it I was thinking to myself “ Self? What could you do with this that would put a bigger smile on your face?" No answers came immediately to me but I knew it would come to me when it was time to know so I put it down and went on about my life.
I have a girlfriend (Jeanette) that lives in Quesnel, British Columbia who has the gift of having the most Amazing Rockin’ Powerhouse of a voice you would ever want to hear; she puts Janis Joplin to shame. Well, as with a lot of people, her family is not having the best of times right now with some health and she is trying to remain positive despite all of the issues. I also know that she also has a dream that she wants to fulfil because a couple of months ago she posted a link on Facebook asking for assistance with funds so that she and her amazing band could produce an EP and I felt inclined to assist with what I could. I too had a dream not so long ago to write and publish my book so that hopefully others can see some of the signs in life that I did not see and that dream has come to fruition…so why not help her fulfil hers. When I visited her GoFundMe page this morning I noticed that the band only needed another $55.00 to reach their goal and I happily donated that money to their project from my book royalties. In doing this, I'm hoping that my "good deed" will put a smile on their faces knowing that they have achieved their goal. I wish you ALL Success in the world for your futures and I CANNOT wait to hear and SHARE that music!
