I recently celebrated my 49th birthday surrounded by love, kindness and artistic flair with some of my friends at a painting party. I’ve never painted or even thought of painting before and I’ve never thrown myself a party like this but I thought “what the hell” life deserves a celebration and I wanted to do just that.
I wanted to celebrate because there have been a couple of times throughout my life when I wasn’t so sure that I would make it this far… but I did. Successfully. My adult children so kindly reminded me that I’m one year closer to 50 and I chose to make some decisions about my life based on that fact.
Like many of you, I live with chronic pain. For most of my adult life it has been an issue but more so in the last decade. Some of its caused by past injury and reinjuring, some of its hereditary and I can only imagine that a part of it is also my bodies way of dealing with stress and past traumas. Over the years I have worked hard on healing and quieting my mind and soul of the cacophony of voices that once inhabited there and now its time to take care of my body.
Being that my mother was addicted to pharmaceuticals I pride myself on the fact that I don’t consume anything that is “man-made” to manage my pain. I eat a healthy diet and although I am in pain regularly I still lead a relatively active life…but also the sedentary life of a writer and business woman. It’s a balancing act at best. I don’t let it stop me but it would be nice not to have to experience it day and night.
I spend many hours a day at my desk and fall into the habits of hunching over and not sitting up as straight as I should, which only exacerbates the aches and pains. Over the years I’ve been diagnosed with many chronic conditions and have tried many different modalities to ease the constant pain that I experience. I’ve tried physio therapy, stretching, acupuncture, acupressure, Chinese cupping, therapeutic cupping, deep tissue massage, inversion tables and cold laser therapy. Where there’s a will there’s a way and I’d about tried them all.
I recently started up physiotherapy again because quite frankly the pain in my neck and back was so persistent that it was keeping me awake at night and affecting my daily schedules. I went to two sessions and was shown some stretches and was doing them diligently which was taking up a large chunk of my day. Yes, I saw some improvement but thought to myself…If I have to do these stretches all damn day…when will I get any work done? There HAS to be some way to eliminate this pain other than this! Here’s the answer that the universe handed me and that Im inclined to share with you.
About a week ago my husband came home and told me a story a friend of his at work had told him. He explained to me that his friend’s dad suffered with so much pain that he couldn’t even walk upright. He continued to tell me that his friends dad recently had an appointment with someone who not only alleviated his pain…but he was now walking straight and with ease after only three treatments. Color me skeptical but intrigued.
Doesn’t this sound like something we all want? To live pain free?? I could only imagine.
Instead of spending the rest of my days stretching I decided to give this treatment a shot so I called and made the appointment and let the universe deal with the rest.
I went in with an open mind and a will for my desired effects. This appointment was like nothing I’d ever experienced before and if you live with chronic pain then I urge you to try it for yourself.
I’d like to introduce you to Janine of Master’s Touch Therapies and include this testimonial of her healing massage techniques.
Janine was thorough in explaining her training and how our bodies work which was interesting and informative. Her methods are kind, gentle and may seem unconventional to some and I wish I could better explain what she does but…I can’t. All I can say is that after one visit I went from not being able to look at the blue sky without wincing in pain or swing my arm freely without its sharp pinch to being able to do both actions…successfully and virtually pain free. I am thankful for her service!
Am I 100%? No, but it was ONE visit. I look forward to our next healing session and to living my life being able to use all of my body’s parts to their full potential. You will never know unless you give it a try.
